16a. Arrangements will be made by the Administrations of both Sections for stabling, cleaning, oiling and repair- ing of passengers and goods waggone employed in through traffic. The cost shall be borne proportionately to the mileage of the two Sections, and shall be accounted for monthly between the Sections as hereinafter provided.

Locomotives

Chinese locomotives will haul all trains on the Chinese Section to and from Sham Chun Station, and British locomotives will haul all trains on the British Section and also all through and local passenger and goods trains and rolling stock to and from Sham Chun Station from and to the British Section and the necessary shunting accommodation for all such locomotives will be provided at Sham Chun Station! this article may be modified at any time by mutual agreement between the Adminis- trations of the two Sections.

Each Section shall have a locomotive waiting in readiness at Sham Chun Station for taking on the through express trains

In order to in accordance with the last preceding article. ensure punctuality each Section through whose fault delay oc- curs shall fofeit to the other the sum of $1.00 for each minute after the first fifteen minutes that any through express train arrives late at Sham Chun Station, unless such delay arises from causes beyond the reasonable control of the Sections con-
